Travel Team Results for 2010
The travel team league - The V League - concluded its 2009-10 winter season at the end of February, and it was a banner year, quite literally, for Agoura travel teams.
We won three of the seven championships that were decided, more than any other community. The summary is as follows: Agoura three championships, and one each for Newbury Park, Camarillo, Conejo, and Ventura. We've got bragging rights for a while anyway!
Our Boys 5 team, a dominant team all season, won the Boys 5 Division Championship with a resounding win over arch rival Newbury Park, led by League MVPs Matthew Elbaum and Adam Parks. Congratulations to Coach Steve Elbaum and his boys for a magical season.
Our girls teams were successful once again and it is clear that the Agoura girls program is where all the other communities would like to be. In the Girls 5/6 Division, Coach Frank Adler's powerful team defended their Championship with a hard fought win over Newbury Park. Congratulations to Frank and Craig Welin and their group. In the Girls 7/8 Division Agoura was also the winner, with Coach Doug Boyle's team eking out a gritty win over Ojai, and congratulations there are in order for Doug and Jim Woods and their group of fine players.
Our Boys 4 team acquitted themselves well in the playoffs, getting a first round win over Simi before being knocked out by eventual champion Newbury Park. The Boys 6 team played well too, but lost to eventual champion Ventura, while the Boys 7 team also scored a really nice first round win before being ousted in the semifinals by Camarillo.
Sportsmanship in the V League was at an all time high, and we are pleased to report that there was not a single incident this season involving Agoura players, coaches, or parents. That's the way we like it!
Much thanks to one and all for a really fun and exciting season in the V League. You can follow Agoura travel teams at the new V League website at http://theVLeague.org.
