AYBA Summer Rules 2010



All AYBA winter rules apply with the exception of the following for summer.


Time periods:


  • Four 10 minutes quarters, running clocks, except the last 2 minutes of the game when there is less than a 15 point lead

  • 2 minutes half time break; 1 minute between quarters.

  • NO OVERTIME

  • (2) 1 minuet time-outs per team per half ; no carryover



Play Time:

EACH PLAYER MUST PLAY A MINIMUM OF 2 (2) FULL COMPLETE/UNITERUPTED QUARTERSIN THE GAME. PLAY IN LESS THAN THE FULL 10 MINUTES IN A QUARTER (EXCEPT FOR INJURY) DOES NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT. No substitution in the first half.


Defense:


Boys 1-2 and Girls 1-3 must play man to man defense. All other divisions can play either man to man or zone defense.


Boys 1-2 and Girls 1-3 can play defense starting at the 3 point line.


Press:


  • No press for Boys divisions 1st thew 4th grade and Girls 1st threw 5th.

  • Boys 5th, may press the last 2 minutes of the half and the game- with the exception of a 15 point lead.

  • Boys 6th, 7th,8th may press any time in the game with the exception of a 15 point lead.

  • Girls 4/5 will shoot from 13 feet and may jump over the line on the follow threw of the shot.

  • Boys High school and College may press at any time.

  • Foul Shooting: 10th team foul in each half is bonus 2 shot ( no 1+1)

  • 2 shot foul make the first get 2 points

  • 3 shot foul: make first get 3 points; miss first & make 2nd get 2 points; miss first 2 & make 3rd get one point.

  • 1st and second grade Boys and Girls for summer only, any foul called on a player will result in the ball out of bounds instead of shooting free throws. Each foul will count a personal foul on the player and a team foul when the team has committed 10 team fouls the team with possession will shoot free throws as above.

  • 1st threw 5th grade boys and girls will play 5 seconds in the Key. All other divisions will play 3 seconds in the Key.

  • A player who commits his 6th foul and who has previously met the 2 quarter minimum play requirement is out of the game and may not return as long as the team has one or more eligible players.


Score Keepers/Time Clock:


  • Each team will supply on volunteer to work the clock or Score Sheet.

  • Scorekeepers and Time keeper must be 15years old minimum NO EXCEPTIONS.



Maintenance:

Coaches please have your player clean up around their chairs at the end of your games. Only water is permitted in the gyms.


Ball Size.

Each division will use the following ball size: Boys Girls

The league does NOT supply Game Balls for the Summer League.
